A man was hospitalized and in critical condition on Saturday morning, Jan.13 following a shooting Friday night that police say could be gang related.
Police responded to reports of shots being fired near the 1200 block of South Pacific Avenue at 10:20 p.m. and found a male victim who had been shot in his upper body, said Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department.
The identity of the man, a 21-year-old Santa Ana resident, was not being released. The shooting took place in an area known for gangs, so the victim’s background is being investigated for any possible gang
SANTA ANA — A teenager walked into a restaurant after being shot Tuesday night, authorities said.
Officers responded to El Gallo Giro, 1442 S. Bristol St., around 8:30 p.m., Santa Ana police Sgt. John Franks said.
The 17-year-old victim, who sustained what appeared to be a nonlife-threatening wound to his leg, was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, said Franks.
Police haven’t determined where the shooting occurred, and a suspect has not been identified.
The victim is not cooperating with police, Franks said, adding it’s unknown if the shooting is gang-related.

HUNTINGTON BEACH – A new video surfaced Saturday, Sept. 23, of the Huntington Beach police officer shooting and killing a suspect outside of a 7-Eleven , with this one showing the man aggressively approaching the officer.
Previous versions did not show as much of the encounter before the shooting.
This two-minute video, apparently shot from inside a vehicle parked outside of the 7-Eleven, opens with a man with long hair and wearing a dark coat advancing toward the officer, who has a weapon drawn, possibly a Tazer. The 9:30 a.m. encounter occurred across the street from Marina High
SANTA ANA – A 26-year-old U.S. Marine was charged Monday, Sept. 18, with one felony count of murder in the shooting death of his estranged wife in Laguna Hills last week.
Jerel Mark Boykins, 26, of North Carolina faces a maximum of 50 years to life in state prison if convicted.
Boykins was arrested on suspicion of shooting Yahaira Boykins, 23, multiple times with his personal firearm on Thursday at her apartment in the 25000 block of Via Lomas.

SAN BERNARDINO >> A Seal Beach woman and San Bernardino man are fighting for their lives after they were each shot in a car-to-car shooting early Friday morning, San Bernardino police said.
“Right now, we’re still investigating the shooting, and it’s not clear if this was gang-related or possibly something else,” said Lt. Mike Madden, spokesman for the department.
The shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. near Sixth and G streets.
“It appears as if both vehicles were on Fifth (Street) going west and then both turned onto G Street,” explained Madden.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A rapper whose concert in Little Rock was the site of a shooting that left 28 people injured was arrested early Sunday on unrelated assault charges while outside an Alabama club where he was performing just 24 hours later, and authorities said several firearms were recovered during the arrest.
