Palestinian president says there is no role for U.S. in peace process

By ZEYNEP BILGINSOY and SARAH EL DEEB

ISTANBUL — Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told Arab and Islamic leaders on Wednesday that the United States is no longer fit to broker an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal and should be replaced as mediator by the United Nations, outlining a significant policy shift in response to President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

In an impassionate speech, Abbas said his people will no longer accept the United States as a peace broker but added that they remain committed to international resolutions which have formed the basis of the process.

Santa Ana begins enforcing new homeless ordinance

SANTA ANA >> Santa Ana Tuesday began enforcing a new ordinance in a popular homeless encampment next to the Orange County Superior Courthouse, pushing many of the transients out.

For the past few years, a growing number of area homeless started residing in the Plaza of the Flags next to the Central Justice Center.

“Aladdin and His Winter Wish,” the Los Angeles-based troupe’s latest new show to visit Laguna Playhouse, is no different in that respect from past LFP shows.

The story, characters and songs will appeal to kids of all ages. The double-entendres of Kris Lythgoe’s script, meanwhile, tickle adult funny bones while
