Dana Point Harbor redux
After 20 years, during which the Orange County Board of Supervisors mulled and the public debated the concept of refurbishing the 1970s-era Dana Point Harbor, the Board of Supervisors has selected a partnership of three development firms to do the job.
Accordingly, the county is in a three-month negotiation period with Dana Point Harbor Partners, consisting of retail specialist Burnham Ward Properties, hotel specialist R.D. Olson Development and marina specialist Bellwether Financial Group. If negotiations work out, the $399 million redevelopment of the entire Dana Point Harbor could begin next year with construction spread over

I always wanted a boy. From the moment my husband and I saw that tiny cluster of cells on the sonogram screen, I knew I was staring at my son. His tiny heart pounded like a tribal drum mixed with the sound of waves.
My son was born a sensitive soul. Part of me hates that his feelings are hurt so easily, and when he cries I have to remember to be patient, even though it’s in my nature to tell him, “Toughen up!” In some ways, he’s not the boy I imagined.
Exceptional watches are a delicate expression of practicality melded with artististic craftsmanship. The second hands mark blocks of time while evoking the constant feeling that life does not stop. No matter what we build, what we accomplish, it’s time that keeps us grounded. Steady movements married with technical expertise remind us to seize the moment and savor each minute.
“We’ve owned this house since 1962 when my parents bought it,” says Macara Bonja, standing in the living room of the Corona del Mar home she shares with her husband, Samir.
But this lovely, airy Mediterranean villa with views for miles isn’t exactly the place her late parents called home for 40 years, for once Macara and Samir made the decision to leave their Back Bay home (complete with backyard dock and boat) for this airy perch, they went all the way.
“When my wife’s mother passed away, we spent a couple of years remodeling. We built this new house here,”
Elation, relief and amused surprise all accompanied our recent visit to Marché Moderne in its new location at Crystal Cove, like the feeling of running into an old friend you’d lost track of when they moved.
A stalwart institution at South Coast Plaza for 10 years, Marché Moderne closed in January. Florent Marneau and wife Amelia – a Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef – accrued a loyal cadre of diners and stellar reviews. When they evolved the restaurant, they retained management staff and made a research trip to Northern California that included a visit to the Michelin three-star Quince.

Mom, what superpower do you want?”
My son Ben often throws these kinds of hypotheticals at me while I’m driving him to school in the morning, like, “Would you rather be a polar bear or a grizzly?” or, “Who would win in a fight, Godzilla or Elsa from ‘Frozen’?”
“Wonder Woman’s golden lasso would come in handy when I ask you if you’ve done your homework,” I deadpanned. “And I also want the power to make you instantly pick up your dirty socks from the floor.”
Wisecracks aside, Ben’s question this day was not so random. Later that morning I joined hundreds
Just about anything you desire is a click away on your iPad, from the comfort of your Frette sheets. Sometimes, though, there’s no substitute for SIRL – shopping in real life. Think about it: the thrill of the hunt – what treasure lies on the next hanger? And actual humans to talk and share a smile with. Textures to touch, scents to smell.
Being fortunate enough to live in Orange County, we have destination boutiques right in our own neighborhoods. Known for offering expertly curated items of impeccable quality, these boutiques are not merely “stores” where people come to shop;
HoS No.003 is the latest men’s cologne from Newport Beach-based House of Sillage, which describes the new fragrance as carrying “distinct notes of oceanic sage and volcanic rock accord, blended with scents of ambergris and Akigala wood.” I don’t know about all that, but it certainly does carry the scent of the sea, and where most colognes seem to fade away by the end of a long day, HoS No. 003 lingers. In a good way. But the most important endorsement came from my sweetie, who took one whiff and said, simply: “Yes.”Original Article: http://www.ocregister.com/2017/10/22/editors-pick-house-of-sillage-no-003/
