PORTLAND, Ore. — Khalil Ahmad scored 24 points with four 3-pointers, Kyle Allman added 21 points and Cal State Fullerton defeated Portland 76-66 on Wednesday night to win its fourth straight.
Dominik Heinzl had 10 points and four rebounds and Jackson Rowe added eight boards for the Titans (5-3), who scored 14 second-chance points off of eight offensive rebounds.
Franklin Porter’s 3-pointer and jumper capped Portland’s opening 13-0 run, but the Titans rallied and Allman scored six straight points to cut the Pilots’ lead to 33-32 by halftime.

Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball took a step back this season, at least in its record.
The team went 5-24 this season, posting one less win than it did in 2016.
However, for Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball head coach Ashley Preston, it is all about taking baby steps.
“It was the good season of growth, even though it did not seem like it,” Preston said.
Preston has reasons for optimism as the team looks forward to its next season. The team is young, with eight players being freshman or transfer students.

FULLERTON — Cal State Fullerton’s Kyle Allman, Jr. led all scorers with a career-high 34 points, but Georgia outlasted the host Titans 64-57 on Thursday night in a hard-fought defensive battle at the Wooden Legacy.
Georgia’s Turtle Jackson scored 14 of his career-high 16 points in the second half, and Yante Maten had 13 of his 15 after the intermission as well to lead the Bulldogs’ comeback victory.

Cal State Fullerton men’s soccer now boasts three Big West Conference championships and NCAA tournament bids in the last four years.
The team’s past four Big West championship games — including one loss — were all close.
A double overtime win in 2014. A 1-0 win in 2015. A double overtime loss in 2016. A penalty kick win in 2017.
“It’s nerve wrecking,” head coach George Kuntz said. “Everybody’s on the edge of their seat.”

Cal State Fullerton golf has a revolving door when it comes to its top scorers.
Three players have been at the top for the men’s team in its four tournaments. Same for the women’s in its five tournaments.
Both coaches, Kathryn Hosch for the women’s and Jason Drotter for the men’s, like it that way.
“It’s competitive, but it’s healthy,” Hosch said.

Cal State Fullerton’s women’s soccer team won the Big West Conference Tournament championship and will now compete in the 64-team NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship. The Titans’ first-round match Saturday is against Pepperdine at Pepperdine in Malibu.
The Titans (12-5-4 overall, 4-3-1 in league) secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament after appearing in their sixth consecutive Big West Conference Tournament championship on Sunday. Cal State Fullerton tied Cal State Northridge 1-1 and took the match into a dramatic penalty kick shootout, which the Titans won 4-3.
The CSUF men’s soccer team, in the meanwhile, advanced to the Big West
Brian Dunseth, former Cal State Fullerton soccer star, will speak at the Titan women’s soccer’s fourth-annual Kick-Off Fundraiser on Aug. 6 at Golleher Alumni House.
Dunseth was a standout defender for Fullerton in 1995 and ’96, and went onto become an Olympian and enjoy an eight-year Major League Soccer career. He is currently a soccer analyst for Real Salt Lake, Fox Sports 1 and ESPN and host of CounterAttack on Sirius XM.
