Cal State Fullerton volleyball coach sees team progressing after 2017 challenges

Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball took a step back this season, at least in its record.

The team went 5-24 this season, posting one less win than it did in 2016.

However, for Cal State Fullerton women’s volleyball head coach Ashley Preston, it is all about taking baby steps.

“It was the good season of growth, even though it did not seem like it,” Preston said.

Preston has reasons for optimism as the team looks forward to its next season. The team is young, with eight players being freshman or transfer students.

A museum career is not a familiar path for my Mexican American family.

Indeed, from time to time I struggle to explain the scope of my work to my loved ones, especially my grandparents whose first language is Spanish.

Words like curator, exhibition or even museum were not exactly words that I grew up using in either language. It was not until college, where I was required to visit museums for class assignments, that I even began to visit museums on a regular basis.

At Cal State Fullerton, I was exposed to a variety of academic disciplines and ideas.

Buying frenzy? Irvine home sales jump 29% in a year

Homebuying in Irvine in the third quarter vastly outpaced countywide sales activity.

Using CoreLogic data, we compared recent sales patterns for all residences vs. results the year-ago period. Sales in Irvine sales rose as 1,399 residences were purchased this year vs. 1,082 a year ago. That’s a gain of 29.3 percent vs. an increase of 2.2 percent countywide.
