New York lawmakers hatch plan to release Trump’s state taxes

ALBANY, N.Y. — New York Democrats have hatched a plan to get a look at Donald Trump’s tax records by crafting a piece of legislation designed to get at his state returns that does everything but mention the Republican president by name.

The bill introduced this month in New York’s Senate and Assembly would require the state to release five years of state tax information for any president or vice president who files a New York state return.

While Trump’s state return wouldn’t include all the details from his federal return, it would offer the public much more information

Andrew Toles’ home run leads Dodgers to sweep over Phillies

LOS ANGELES — Andrew Toles was batting .196 when he arrived at AT&T Park for a game against the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night. He was the Dodgers’ center fielder and leadoff hitter less by choice than by default, with Joc Pederson and Logan Forsythe biding their time on the disabled list.

Angels Notes: J.C. Ramirez bounces back from a rough start

ARLINGTON, Texas — The education of J.C. Ramirez, starting pitcher, continues to unfold in a fashion better than the Angels likely expected.

The latest positive development was Ramirez showing that he can be effective even when he’s not at his best.

After he allowed three of the first four batters to reach base in Sunday’s game, with command and velocity both lacking, he nonetheless solved his issues and pitched 5-1/3 innings, with only two runs scoring.

“It was just a battle,” Ramirez said.
